Health is multidimensional. According to WHO it is not merely absence of disease but a state of full vitality. It is modifiable as per environment, lifestyle and accessibility to healthcare. Healthy living is fundamental to life. It's resource for everyday living. Being in good health requires keeping good physical mental emotional and social health. Education of individual and family as well cultural tradition are important determinants.


Key aspects are -


  1. NUTRITION

One should have balanced diet. Plate should look colorful, it should be nutrient rich. In adolescent age and in postmenopausal women calcium and protein rich diet should constitute the plate. Be careful about portions of food. Be mindful about the content of food. Maintain good hydration. Avoid processed food. Try to fill nutritional gaps by appropriately supplementing and fortifying food. Working women find difficult to keep up with nutritional requirements owing to their busy schedule. Planning and preparing meals well ahead in time can help with able to meet necessary nutritional needs.


  1. LIFESTYLE

Culture and traditions in the house plays important role in deciding about the lifestyle but in modern era lifestyle is definitely a choice. Its responsibility of the female along with support of her husband to make right choices for her own self as well the family. Women find less time to care of personal health owing to career and family responsibilities. There is need to prioritise physical as well mental health in daily routine life. Active exercises improve energy and stamina. Doing yoga and meditation has outlasting benefits. Simple walking jogging improve endurance along with strength training. Exercise schedule should be incorporated in daily timetable.


  1. MENTAL WELL-BEING

Keeping a positive attitude in positive mind helps in all aspects of our functioning. Mental well-being is not absence of mental disorder, it is the way how we think, how we act in a particular circumstance. Engaging in hobbies, social activities, relaxation techniques like meditation, spending time with loved ones are some self care practices.

One should have open communication. Schedule time for oneself. Surround oneself with friends and people who encourage and inspire you. Hormonal changes can affect mental health. Women are more likely to face anxiety, depression, mood changes and fatigue. Some have to deal with violence at home can lead to major depressive and stress disorder. Balancing work and family can unknowingly lead to burnout.

Instead of doing everything alone and proving to be a superwomen, setting boundaries is mindfulness, delegating tasks is strategic planning, asking for support is stress busting. To create more balanced life.


  1. PREVENTIVE CHECK-UPS

Screening tests done as annual checkup are important to detect potential health issues. Also prevent and control chronic diseases. Problems can be detected in early and treatable stage. Women need to get vaccinations. Do PAP smear and mammograms after age 40. Do breast examination and bone density testing postmenopausal. Checking of cholesterol, sugar, thyroid, blood pressure is important even without any symptoms for the disease. To promote WELL-BEING and improve quality of life one should make preventive care the priority.


Finally know yourself. Understand your body and mind. Act in accordance by making right choices about food, exercise, work pattern and lifestyle. Incorporate similar values in siblings and even colleagues. Learn to appreciate yourself. Consequently to support and appreciate others. It helps in reducing negative emotions and anxiety for small things in day to day life. Be realistic to the core.
